Where the prices come from

Why we're doing this

We like building things with data and technology. Cartagena is full of prices nobody publishes and everybody ends up working out on their own, usually by overpaying the first time. We started with taxis because it's the fastest thing to verify, but the idea is the same for everything else.

The reports

Everything comes from people who took a taxi and told us what they paid. Residents and visitors. We ask for nothing but the amount.

When there's little data

On routes with fewer than five reports we show an estimate, based on what several drivers told us and the fares we could verify. We label it as an estimate. Once enough real reports come in, the estimate goes away.

When there's none

If nobody has reported a route, we don't make up a number. We say so and ask for yours.

How we calculate the range

With five or more reports, we show the range where most of what people paid falls, over the last six months. We drop absurdly high or low amounts, which are almost always typos.

How recent it is

Next to each price we say how many reports back it and when the last one came in. A price from four months ago may be out of date, and we'd rather you knew.

We're not partnered with anyone

We don't work with any driver or company, and we make nothing off what you pay.

When there's an official tariff

Some routes have a fare set by municipal decree (Decree 0051 of 2026), not by rider reports. We label it as an official tariff and cite the decree. It's a government figure, not our average — and what people actually pay on the street can differ with traffic, time of day, and negotiation with the driver. Getsemaní shares a fare zone with Downtown, so the minimum fare applies regardless of the exact destination within that zone. The decree also sets a $1,100 night surcharge between 7pm and 5am, which we only show if you're viewing the page during those hours.

Your data

We don't ask for email, name, or an account. Just the amount you paid.
